I've been atrocious at updating this, mostly due to lots of work but really chuffed to say I've been selected to be a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit for 2016. (More info on that here). It was for my work on MURDERED BY MY FATHER which also won Best Television Programme at the Asian Media Awards.

Heartening to see the work of the team recognised.

Happy New Year, folks! I realise it's been quite a while since I've updated this. So what's going on?

- MURDERED BY MY FATHER is written, shot and airs in February. Looking back at my post from last June, I believe I've done what I set out to and having seen the results am proud of it. The toughest project I've had to write by a long yard.

- I'm also writing an episode of a new Goa-set hospital comedy-drama GOOD KARMA HOSPITAL for ITV1 and the nice people at Tiger Aspect.

- Still working on a couple of commission plays as well as KNOWN UNKNOWNS - a radicalisation rom-com. Yep.

The BBC Factual department have commissioned a follow-up to their BAFTA-winning drama MURDERED BY MY BOYFRIEND that will investigate the act of honour-killing and I've been tasked with writing it.

It's a subject that, to me, feels familiar in the ether but not necessarily examined properly and whilst I'm proud to have the opportunity to do that, I moreover recognise the massive responsibility that comes with it.

Sorry I've been so slack with this...have spent the time actually writing, which is never a bad thing. So what's going on?

- I'm on the Channel4 Screenwriting 2015 course where I'm developing an urban quasi-family quasi-crime drama. Basically, a British-Indian Sopranos is the aim.

- I'm writing a short play about the elections for Theatre503 and, like a mug, trying to make a prediction on it.

- Speaking of 503, starting real work on the play for them.

- 

On Friday the winner (or as it turned out, winners!) of the Theatre503 Playwriting Award were announced, as well as the new 503Five of which I'm lucky to be one of. It means I'll get a chance to develop a play across the next 18 months - have one in mind and already started prodding at it.

Following the run of FREE FALL at the Pleasance, Islington, my next project is the return of TRUE BRITS.  Firstly as part of Bush Theatre's RADAR Festival though the performances there are now sold out.

But if you missed it and really want to come along to see the show, it'll be running in February as part of Vault Festival 2015 (which is in the old Old Vic Tunnels if that's a more familiar).

A very busy few months means I've not updated this as much as I should have. Updates from the last few months plus an announcement to make shortly that I'm very excited about.  For now, back to the grindstone.

Today I've found out that my multi-stranded drama, GHOSTS OF THE A380 has been commissioned for a treatment for Channel 4's Coming Up 2014 scheme.  Some details of the idea can be found here.

Over the moon, though a busy July ahead it seems!

I was invited to pitch for the new strand of BBC iPlayer Shorts and found out yesterday that my pitch has moved onto a script commission. It's an idea that I'm chuffed to get the chance to make since I love it (I would say that though, wouldn't I?). Of the ten commissions, three will eventually get made and shown next year.

Will stick up some more news and info when I get it.
